OK, these next 5 hours will feel like torture. You will be fretting that you didn't pass, you didn't revise as much as you should have, your going back through past exam papers, crying with your friends, looking at grade boundaries, pulling your hair out, having a major meltdown. STOP. OK listen to me. It doesn't matter what that piece of paper says. It doesn't determine you as a person and yes it may determine your future but that doesn't make it a bad thing, its what you make of it.

For the first time in 3 years I'm not collecting any results and for the first time I can actually relax. Which means I can help you guys out.

So last year I was in the same boat as you, desperate to go to University, extremely negative about exams, I freak out like mad because of pressure. I was terrified of letting everyone down, not going to uni and just feeling like a toe really? But at the end of the day it doesn't matter if you don't get into uni, getting into uni doesn't make you any different from someone who is not going. As long as you worked hard, gave it your all, celebrate and be proud of yourself.

So what if you haven't got 3 A's. If you're anything like me, I worked my back side off and still was never one of those smart cookies, but hey I passed with BBC, got into the uni I wanted to and I'm still loving it today. 

So here's some tips that will help you through these lovely long draining hours:

1) Breathe, easy right? But we all forget when we begin to panic
2) Be positive, a negative mind is my eyes can cause fate and set you up for failure, if you remain positive and tell yourself you have passed, watch, you will do it
3)Distraction, STOP TALKING ABOUT IT, you want a good nights sleep, eat a load of junk, watch netflix or ex on the beach has just started and completely chill out. Run a bath and please stop focusing on it. I know you're doing it now so stop.
4) If you get your email confirming your place into uni or you have been declined, you may receive this at midnight, I personally wouldn't open it, you will stress more because you won't know your grades and then you will feel worse for another 10 hours until you collect them. Don't open your emails, get your results in the morning. And if you don't have an email at midnight like I didn't, I was more than sure I had failed. SO JUST WAIT OK.

The morning:

1) EAT, you may be at school for a few hours discussing your options and talking with teachers and friends. You wanna make sure you have eaten. I know when you're stressed and panicking eating is the last thing you think about, but it will make you feel better.
2)Its up to you what time you want to arrive, I think we had a 2 hour time slot to collect ours, so I went half way through. I didn't want to open my results or tell anyone, so if you're like me go when most people would have already got theirs or take it home with you to open.
3) Don't begin to panic and freak out if you don't have the grades for Uni, on my course there were loads of people who were one grade off and talking with the university they got in. So don't think its the end of the world.
4) Clearing, this is an option, you might decide your first choice uni was only for you BUT you may find another one that's even better, so clearing isn't a bad option at all.
5) CONGRATULATE YOUR GOD DAMN SELF, you've finished 14 years of education (not including uni) whether you're happy with your results or not you're out of the educational establishment of hell, so well done for surviving. 

I hope these tips help, please don't freak out. I wish you all the best of luck and I hope you get into Uni if that's what you're wanting to do. Remember its only a piece of paper with a stupid letter and that does not determine your life, OK?
